Dominate Turkey Day

This week, we are continuing the theme we started during the last Family Week and Episode 20: An Opportunity to Talk about Good, Better, Best of Fuel. Move. Recover. We want to continue that theme by focusing an entire episode of the show on Thanksgiving and all that comes with it.

It is a blessing-in-disguise that we are talking about this two weeks before Thanksgiving. Between this post and the podcast episode that drops on Friday, you should have a week or so to get yourself organized before the holiday. This way you can feel confident about your plan for the day without having to make last-minute decisions. During the show, each of the FMR team leaders will give 3 tips to thrive during this holiday, but we also want to hear from you! Click the link at the bottom of the page to ask us your questions for the podcast. Not a member? No worries! You can either join by Wednesday to get access to the forum or just listen to the episode to hear our members’ questions, which are likely to be shared in part by you.

Fuel

What fuel-related questions do you have about optimizing performance and wellness during the Thanksgiving holiday? You may be wondering if there are certain dishes that you enjoy but would like to make healthier this year if possible? Are you curious about how to distribute your calories throughout the day or maybe what beverages (those with or without alcohol) to consume or avoid? Ever wonder if you could fast the day before or after Thanksgiving to offset the impact of what you eat on that Thursday?

Move

What move-related questions do you have about optimizing performance and wellness during the Thanksgiving holiday? What kind of exercise (strength training or cardio) is best to prioritize when you are busy during the long weekend around Thanksgiving? Should you workout in the morning before everyone comes or in the evening after everyone leaves? Most schools have practice on Black Friday, so how should you prepare for that workout on Thursday? Should you take the day off or add an extra workout in?

Recover

What recovery-related questions do you have about optimizing performance and wellness during the Thanksgiving holiday? Here are some things that you might reflect on or have questions about: would it be best to just do an Active Recovery workout on Thanksgiving since you’re so busy anyway? Do you find that you have trouble sleeping the night before or night of Thanksgiving because of all the stress that comes with it? Do you struggle to balance enjoying the time with your family with the stress of the holidays? How do you get a good night of sleep when you are traveling for the holiday?
